Boston College quarterback Thomas Castellanos will not play in the Eagles’ game against Western Kentucky, as confirmed by the school on Friday. He will be replaced by Grayson James, who transferred from Florida International.
Castellanos played well in BC’s 23-19 win against Michigan State last Saturday, completing a game-winning touchdown pass to Lewis Bond with 88 seconds left. However, he missed part of Tuesday’s practice.
Last season, Castellanos passed for 2,248 yards and 15 touchdowns. This year, he has completed 45 of 70 passes for 729 yards and 10 touchdowns, leading the Eagles to a surprising victory over No. 10 Florida State, which marked their first appearance in The Associated Press Top 25 since 2018.
James threw for 1,969 yards and 11 touchdowns as a sophomore at Florida International in 2022, but he only played in three games as a junior last season.
