Former Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison has been viewed as the top choice to be the first non-quarterback selected in the draft for most of the past year. Betting markets continue to reflect that sentiment. However, former LSU wide receiver Malik Nabers also has gained support from teams across the league.
Regardless of whether Nabers or Harrison is picked first, both are expected to be chosen early in the draft. The number of teams that have met with Nabers or plan to meet with him ahead of Wednesday’s Pro Day underscores this belief.
According to Cameron Wolfe of NFL Media, the Giants, who hold the sixth pick, had dinner with Nabers on Tuesday evening.
Nabers also had meetings with the Patriots, Titans, Jets, and Jaguars. He is scheduled to meet with the Cardinals after his Pro Day workout. All of these teams, except the Jaguars, have early picks in the draft. Both the Patriots and the Cardinals pick ahead of the Giants.
Nabers did not participate in drills at the Scouting Combine, but he is expected to run the 40-yard dash and showcase his receiving skills during his Pro Day.
