Due to a groin issue, Romelu Lukaku will be absent from Belgium’s upcoming friendly against Ireland. The striker recently sat out a Europa League encounter due to a recurring hip problem, and featured for 85 minutes in Roma’s Serie A victory over Sassuolo last Sunday.
However, Belgium confirmed on Tuesday that Lukaku wouldn’t be available for the Ireland match due to a slightly strained groin.
This setback comes as Belgium prepares for the European Championship, with the friendly against Ireland as a warm-up ahead of a clash against England next Tuesday.
Although Lukaku has left Belgium’s training camp, he will still accompany the team to Ireland and England. It remains uncertain whether he will be fit to play at Wembley if he recovers in time. The European Championship in Germany is set to take place from June 14 to July 14.
