Bills announce roster moves ahead of crucial playoff clash with Ravens (Buffalo Bills)

The Buffalo Bills revealed roster changes on Saturday afternoon, which included promoting two players from their practice squad as allowed by league regulations.

This announcement comes just before the Bills are set to host the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL’s last divisional round matchup.

Wide receiver Jalen Virgil and offensive lineman Will Clapp were the players selected for elevation ahead of the team’s second playoff game.

The decision not to upgrade Frank Gore, Jr., the sole running back on the practice squad, suggests that running back Ray Davis may have successfully passed through the concussion protocol.

Ray Davis’ Concussion Recovery

Davis sustained a head injury during last week’s wild card victory against the Denver Broncos and was quickly placed in the league’s concussion protocol.

By Wednesday, the rookie running back, who has contributed to Buffalo’s dynamic offense with three rushing and three receiving touchdowns throughout the season, participated in practice, albeit in a limited capacity.

Throughout the week, Davis made strides in the NFL’s concussion protocol, which was established in 2011 and last updated in October 2022.

During Thursday and Friday’s practices, he wore a red non-contact jersey while participating in individual drills and honing his special teams skills alongside his teammates.

Although Davis had limitations throughout the week and entered the weekend with a questionable status, there remained a possibility for him to be cleared for game participation.

The league’s guidelines permit evaluation through simulated activities when a team has no remaining full practices scheduled. It seems plausible that the Bills took advantage of this option during Saturday morning’s preparations.
