Dairon Blanco had three hits in the game, including a two-run home run in the third inning. Michael Wacha, who hadn’t won a game in over a month, secured his first win. The Kansas City Royals won 10-4 against the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday night.
Royals manager Matt Quatraro praised Blanco’s readiness whenever he’s in the lineup, whether he starts or comes off the bench. Although Blanco is usually a pinch runner, he has hit safely in five of his seven starts this season.
Vinnie Pasquantino also hit a two-run home run in the third inning and drove in three runs for the Royals, who have won three of their last four games. Pasquantino has nine RBIs in his last five games.
Maikel Garcia contributed with three hits, including a two-run double in the sixth inning.
Wacha, who had lost all his previous five starts, allowed only two hits in six innings. However, he encountered trouble in the seventh inning when the Angels loaded the bases. Luis Guillorme and Cole Tucker drew bases-loaded walks, forcing Wacha out of the game.
Despite the Angels having runners at first and second with one out, reliever Daniel Lynch IV made a remarkable play, catching Kevin Pillar’s grounder to initiate a double play and end the inning.
The Angels managed only five hits in the game, continuing their struggles at The Big A, where they are 4-12, their worst home start in franchise history.
