The Los Angeles Chargers are in need of more weapons, and how they address this issue this offseason will be interesting to watch.
With plenty of cap space available, the Chargers will need to use some of that money to keep their own free agents, but they should still have enough room to make a significant move.
Los Angeles could trade for superstar wide receiver Davante Adams. His idea is that the Chargers would send a third-round pick to the New York Jets in exchange for Adams.
“Ladd McConkey is an exciting young player, but it would be great to see Justin Herbert working with a dynamic duo again,” Ballentine wrote. “Going from Keenan Allen and Mike Williams to McConkey and the band of underwhelming receivers the Chargers had last season was a steep drop-off.
Targeting Davante Adams would give L.A. a tandem to build the passing game around.”
Adams had a strong 2024 season, catching 85 passes for 1,063 yards and eight touchdowns in 14 games. He started the year with the Las Vegas Raiders but was traded to the Jets in October.
Though Adams is 32 years old and not the same dominant player he once was, he has still been very productive, with five straight 1,000-yard seasons.
While Los Angeles may want to consider younger players, Adams, with two years left on his contract, could be worth the risk. For a third-round pick, it could be a move worth making for the Chargers.
