The Lions recently extended wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and tackle Penei Sewell’s contracts. However, negotiations for quarterback Jared Goff’s new deal are still ongoing.
General Manager Brad Holmes mentioned on WXYT Thursday that while it would’ve been ideal to have all deals settled quickly, quarterback negotiations can be more complex. Holmes remains optimistic that they will reach an agreement because both parties are committed to it.
“Jared has definitely earned an extension,” Holmes emphasized. “It’s a top priority for us, and we’re both putting in a lot of effort. These things just take time.”
While the specific challenges to finalizing the deal aren’t clear, there’s still plenty of time before the season begins, and everyone involved seems motivated to get it done.
