Brazil’s Atletico Mineiro defeated Argentina’s River Plate 3-0 in the first leg of their Copa Libertadores semifinal on Tuesday, bringing them closer to reaching the tournament final for the second time in their history.

Striker Deyverson started the scoring in Belo Horizonte in the 22nd minute by dribbling past goalkeeper Franco Armani. He scored again in the 70th minute with a crossed shot.

River Plate reacts in the game

Paulinho made it 3-0 for Atletico Mineiro just four minutes later.

Atletico Mineiro previously won the Copa Libertadores in 2013. Brazil’s Botafogo and Uruguay’s Peñarol will play their semifinal first leg on Wednesday in Rio de Janeiro.

Brazilian teams have won the tournament for the last five years. The final is set to take place on Nov. 30 at Monumental de Nunez Stadium in Buenos Aires.
