Brett Leason had a goal and two assists, leading the Anaheim Ducks to a 4-2 win over the Dallas Stars on Monday night.
Leason now has two goals and four assists in the four games since he returned to the lineup, after being a healthy scratch for three straight games and five out of six.
Cutter Gauthier also had a goal and an assist, while defensemen Olen Zellweger and Jackson LaCombe scored as well. Lukas Dostal made 34 saves for the Ducks, who have won three of their last four games.
Esa Lindell and Matt Duchene scored for Dallas, and Casey DeSmith made 24 saves. The Stars had won three games in a row before this loss.
For the second game in a row, Zellweger gave Anaheim an early 1-0 lead. Ryan Strome won a faceoff in the Dallas zone, and the puck went back to Zellweger, who scored with a wrist shot from above the right circle just 56 seconds into the game.
Zellweger had a goal and two assists in the Ducks’ 6-4 win against the Detroit Red Wings on Friday.
Leason made it 2-0 at 5:44 of the first period with a wrist shot from the right circle after a rush.
In the second period, Dostal made a big save on a Roope Hintz breakaway in the opening seconds during four-on-four play. Then, at 11:37, Tyler Seguin hit the post on another breakaway for Dallas.
Anaheim went up 3-0 with a power-play goal at 7:39 of the second period. Leason passed to Gauthier in the slot, and the rookie scored with a one-timer.
Gauthier, who is 20 years old, had scored his first NHL goal in the Ducks’ win against the Red Wings.
Dallas finally got on the board at 3:31 of the third period. Lindell took a pass from Mavrik Bourque in the high slot while trailing the rush and scored with a one-timer, cutting the lead to 3-1.
DeSmith made a save on a Frank Vatrano breakaway at 11:24, and then Duchene scored just 44 seconds later to make it 3-2. Duchene fought off Ducks defenseman Pavel Mintyukov as he drove to the net and scored from close range.
Anaheim sealed the win at 14:32 when Leason passed from below the goal line to LaCombe in front of the crease, and the defenseman scored with a backhand shot to make it 4-2.
