Giants head coach Brian Daboll expressed interest in trading up to select quarterback Jayden Daniels in the 2024 NFL draft.
This was revealed in a preview for an upcoming episode of Hard Knocks, where Giants General Manager Joe Schoen asked in a team meeting if Daniels was worth trading up for, and Daboll indicated that he believed he was.
“Daniels: Have you guys seen enough that you would trade up for him?” Schoen inquired.
“Daniels? I would,” Daboll responded. However, Daniels was ultimately drafted by the Commanders as the second overall pick, and the Giants chose LSU receiver Malik Nabers with their sixth pick in the first round.
Daboll’s readiness to pursue a quarterback suggests that the Giants may be preparing to transition away from Daniel Jones after the 2024 season, unless Jones significantly improves from his performance last year.
While the Giants were unable to acquire Daniels in the 2024 draft, they recognize the need to upgrade their quarterback position, possibly in the 2025 draft.
