Things have been moving in this direction throughout the offseason and training camp, but now it’s officially confirmed:
Head coach Brian Daboll will call the offensive plays for the Giants in 2024. He confirmed this at his press conference on Tuesday.
“Yeah, I’m doing it,” Daboll said, according to Jordan Raanan of ESPN. However, Daboll didn’t go into much detail about what led to this decision.
Daboll was the Bills’ offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021. His skills in play calling and design helped him get the job with New York.
For the past two seasons, offensive coordinator Mike Kafka has been calling the plays, but the results were not great. Last year, the Giants ranked No. 29 in yards and No. 30 in points.
Buffalo had one of the top offenses in 2020 and 2021, Daboll’s last two years with them. In 2021, the Bills were No. 5 in yards and No. 3 in points.
We’ll see how the Giants’ offense performs under Daboll when they play the Vikings on Sunday.
