Bryson Stott’s triple with the bases loaded in the sixth inning broke the tie, helping the Philadelphia Phillies secure an 8-3 victory over the Miami Marlins on Saturday.
Stott ended the game with two hits and four RBIs. Catcher J.T. Realmuto also contributed with a run-scoring single and threw out two baserunners attempting to steal. The Phillies, now with a record of 28-12, have won 13 of their last 15 games.
Cristian Pache continued his strong performance with three hits and an RBI in this game, making him 5-for-9 in the series. While Bryce Harper struggled at the plate, going 0-for-5, the rest of the Phillies’ lineup delivered 12 hits for the game.
Manager Rob Thomson praised the bottom of the lineup for their recent performances, noting the contributions from players who don’t regularly start.
Pache, who had been struggling with a .118 batting average, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to play and noted that he’s feeling more comfortable at the plate now.
On the pitching side, Taijuan Walker earned his third win of the season by pitching six innings and allowing just one run. Despite giving up eight hits, Walker managed to keep the Marlins at bay while relying on the Phillies’ strong offensive support.
The Marlins, now with a record of 10-31, continue to struggle, having won just one of their last eight games since trading NL batting champion Luis Arraez on May 4th.
