The Calgary Flames signed right-handed defenseman Tyson Barrie to a one-year contract worth $1.25 million on Thursday.
Barrie, who is 33 years old and known for his skills on the power play, has 210 career points while playing with the extra man. He arrived at training camp on a professional tryout contract.
Last season, Barrie recorded one goal and 14 assists in 41 regular-season games with Nashville, where he played his second year.
Standing 5-foot-11 and weighing 197 pounds, he has scored 109 goals and made 396 assists in 809 games over 13 seasons with Colorado, Toronto, Edmonton, and Nashville.
The Flames will wrap up their preseason on Friday night at home against Winnipeg and will start the regular season on Wednesday night at Vancouver.
