Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti reflected on the team’s performance during the 1-1 La Liga draw against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, February 11.
Joselu provided an early lead for Los Merengues in the third minute, but Raul de Tomas equalized from the penalty spot in the 27th minute. Despite their efforts, Real Madrid couldn’t secure a win, and Dani Carvajal’s injury-time red card added to the disappointment.
Addressing the media post-match, Ancelotti remarked (via Football Espana):
“We’re not happy after this draw. We were good until the penalty, our game changed after it and we got nervous.”
He continued:
“Playing here is always difficult. There were a lot of duels and fights. Rayo was good. We got a point, we’re not satisfied. But maybe in the future, this could be a good point.”
Real Madrid maintains their lead in La Liga with 62 points from 25 matches. Despite the stumble against Vallecano, Ancelotti’s side remains atop the table, holding a commendable advantage over Girona, who have 56 points from 24 matches.
