Carlos Alcaraz extends condolences to victims of Valencia apartment fire
Carlos Alcaraz has expressed his heartfelt condolences to those affected by the devastating fire that swept through neighboring apartment blocks in Valencia, Spain.
Following the tragic incident on Thursday, February 22, which claimed the lives of at least nine people with around 14 others still missing, Alcaraz took to social media to offer his support.
In a message posted on his Instagram stories, Alcaraz sent a sincere hug to the affected individuals and their families, acknowledging the profound impact of the tragedy.
“A heartfelt hug to all those affected by the terrible fire in Valencia, and all my love to the families of the deceased,” Alcaraz wrote.
The fire, which ignited in Campanar, a suburb of Valencia, quickly escalated due to reportedly flammable polyurethane cladding on the buildings. Despite the efforts of 16 firefighting units, containing the blaze proved challenging.
With access to the apartments hindered by the flames, firefighters utilized drones to locate victims within the affected buildings. Injuries were reported among both residents and firefighters, with accommodations arranged for those displaced by the fire.
In response to the tragic event, the Valencia government declared a three-day official mourning period beginning on Friday, February 23.
