The Carolina Panthers will be missing wide receiver Adam Thielen for at least four weeks after he was placed on injured reserve on Tuesday due to a hamstring injury.
Thielen got hurt while making a diving touchdown catch at the end of the second quarter during Carolina’s 36-22 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. The 34-year-old did not return for the second half.
Jonathan Mingo, a second-round draft pick in 2023, or rookie first-round pick Xavier Legette will likely step in for Thielen in the starting lineup on Sunday when the Panthers face the Cincinnati Bengals.
Thielen has recorded eight catches for 109 yards over three games.
His absence is a significant setback for an offense that performed well in its first game with Andy Dalton as quarterback. Dalton took over for Bryce Young, the first overall pick in 2023, who has had a tough time this season with a 2-16 record as a starter.
The Panthers have also added free agent wide receiver Jalen Coker to the roster to help replace Thielen.
Additionally, Carolina signed defensive backs Demani Richardson and Russ Yeast, placed backup defensive back Jordan Fuller on injured reserve, and waived tight end Messiah Swinson.
