Catcher Jacob Stallings and the Colorado Rockies agreed to a one-year contract worth $2.5 million on Wednesday.
The contract includes a $2 million salary for the upcoming season, along with a $2 million mutual option for 2026. The option has a $500,000 base buyout, which could increase by $150,000 for 80 games at catcher, $150,000 for 90 games, and $200,000 for 100 games.
Stallings, 34, had a career-best season with the Rockies last year, hitting .263 with nine home runs and a .453 slugging percentage. He also threw out 12 runners attempting to steal, which ranked 12th among catchers.
Stallings was drafted by Pittsburgh in the seventh round of the 2012 MLB Draft after playing at North Carolina. Over his nine-season career with the Pirates, Miami Marlins, and Rockies, he has played in 534 games, hitting 33 home runs and driving in 184 RBIs.
In 2021, Stallings won the NL Gold Glove for his excellent work behind the plate. He also set a major league record by going 247 games without a passed ball, a streak that lasted from August 18, 2020, to April 4, 2023.
