Ty Jerome came off the bench to score 26 points, while Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley both recorded double-doubles, leading the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 122-108 win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.
Jerome has scored at least 24 points in three of his last four games. Donovan Mitchell also added 26 points, while Allen had 23 points and 13 rebounds. Mobley finished with 14 points and 11 rebounds in the victory.
For the Raptors, Scottie Barnes and Gradey Dick led with 18 points each. Jakob Poeltl had 12 points and grabbed a game-high 19 rebounds. RJ Barrett contributed 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists, but Toronto has now lost eight of their last 10 games.
With the Cavaliers up 94-90, Mobley dunked with 0.8 seconds remaining in the third quarter to start a 12-1 run. Jerome’s three-pointer, one of four he made in the game, capped the run and gave Cleveland a 106-91 lead with 9:23 left in the game.
Mitchell took control in the fourth quarter, hitting 5 of 8 shots and scoring 11 points to help the Cavaliers pull away. Issac Okoro’s basket inside pushed Cleveland’s lead to 17 points, the largest of the game, with 8:30 remaining in the fourth.
Toronto briefly led 2-0, but the Cavaliers responded with a 23-7 run, finished off by Jerome’s three-pointer with 5:17 left in the first quarter. Cleveland shot 65.2% in the quarter and held Toronto to just 36% shooting, finishing the first period up 38-16.
Toronto fought back in the second quarter, with Jamison Battle scoring 11 of his 13 points to help trim the deficit. Ochai Abaji’s runner made it 50-46 with 3:20 left in the half, but Cleveland extended its lead to 65-55 by halftime.
Jerome had 17 points in the first half, and Allen added 15 for the Cavaliers. Dick scored 12 for the Raptors.
Cleveland dominated the paint, outscoring Toronto 64-42, and also hit 16 of 41 three-pointers in the win.
