CeeDee Lamb received a warm welcome from fans at the Dallas Cowboys Ford Center during the team’s first training camp practice of the summer. The reception was particularly notable as it followed Lamb’s signing of a significant four-year, $136 million contract extension earlier that day.

Although Lamb participated in only a limited workout due to his recent holdout, his enthusiasm for the moment was evident. He expressed excitement and a desire to make the most of the opportunity, despite having missed over a month of practice.

The contract extension includes a record-setting $38 million signing bonus for wide receivers and guarantees $100 million. With an average annual salary of $34 million, Lamb now ranks second among receivers, behind Justin Jefferson of the Minnesota Vikings.

Lamb admitted that while he always believed he would secure a contract extension, the negotiation process was stressful. His agent, Tory Dandy, informed him of the finalized deal in an unexpected manner, leading to a mix of surprise and relief.

During the contract negotiations, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones initially downplayed the urgency of finalizing the deal, which led Lamb to express his frustration on social media. Despite this tension, Lamb and Jones eventually had a productive conversation after the deal was completed. Lamb has since focused on moving forward and preparing for the upcoming season with a positive mindset.

As the season opener against the Cleveland Browns approaches, Lamb is working to get back up to full speed. He has been staying engaged with the team’s offensive changes through film study and communication with teammates.

Despite missing significant practice time, Lamb feels physically prepared, having added 15 pounds to his frame for added durability. He believes his preparation and adjustments will allow him to perform effectively from the start of the season.

In addition to focusing on his own performance, Lamb expressed a desire to see quarterback Dak Prescott secure a contract extension. With Prescott potentially becoming a free agent after this season, Lamb emphasized the importance of maintaining their successful partnership and resolving contract uncertainties to allow the team to concentrate on winning games.
