Manchester United midfielder Casemiro has expressed his admiration for two footballing legends, naming Paul Scholes and Zinedine Zidane as his idols.
Casemiro, who joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid in 2022 for a reported £60 million, has garnered praise for his defensive prowess and impressive passing abilities since arriving at Old Trafford.
Speaking via Manchester World, Casemiro highlighted Scholes and Zidane as players who left a lasting impact on the game:
“Those two marked an era, especially Paul Scholes, who played here. I think he’s one of the best midfielders to look up to. And Zinedine Zidane due to his talent, especially.”
Paul Scholes was renowned for his midfield intelligence and influence during his illustrious career, while Zinedine Zidane is celebrated as one of football’s all-time greats. Casemiro notably had the privilege of playing under Zidane during his time at Real Madrid.
Since joining Manchester United, Casemiro has become an integral part of the team, making 68 appearances, contributing 11 goals and eight assists. In the current season, the 31-year-old has featured in 17 matches, scoring four goals and providing two assists.
