Como achieved its first Serie A win in over 21 years as Cesc Fabregas’ team triumphed 3-2 against Atalanta in a rescheduled match on Tuesday.

With impressive second-half goals from Gabriel Strefezza and Alieu Fadera, along with an own goal from Atalanta defender Sead Kolasinac, the newly promoted Como celebrated its first victory in the Italian top division since May 2003.

This was Atalanta’s third loss of the season; they had previously drawn 0-0 with Arsenal in the Champions League last week.

The match, which was a local derby, was originally scheduled for Monday night but was postponed by 24 hours due to heavy rain in Bergamo that left the pitch waterlogged.

Atalanta took the lead in the 18th minute when a corner was headed away but fell to Davide Zappacosta, who volleyed it into the bottom left corner from just outside the area.

However, Como made a strong comeback and equalized just 20 seconds into the second half. Sergi Roberto backheeled a pass from Ignace Van der Brempt to Strefezza, who shot into the far bottom corner.

Como took the lead in the 54th minute, benefiting from luck when Nicolás Paz’s shot deflected off Kolasinac, confusing Atalanta goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi.

Things worsened for Atalanta four minutes later when Fadera received a long ball from Paz, turned Atalanta captain Marten de Roon, and scored into the far bottom corner.

Atalanta did manage to score a penalty with the last kick of the match, taken by Ademola Lookman, after Alberto Dossena fouled Vanja Vlahović deep into stoppage time.
