The first two practice sessions of the 2024 Saudi Arabian GP have concluded, marking an important chapter in the event’s history. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc showcased solid performances in both sessions, securing the fifth position in FP1 and improving to fourth in FP2.
Post the second practice, Leclerc took a moment to assess his prospects for the upcoming Qualifying session ahead of the race in Jeddah. As per a report from F1 Maximaal, the Monegasque driver expresses confidence in his ability to contend for pole position in Jeddah.
“Now, we need to fine-tune our car setup before Qualifying begins and ensure we maximize our overall package. We aim to build on our performance from Bahrain. While it’s challenging to predict if pole position is within reach, if I had to wager, I’d say yes.”
Transitioning from Bahrain, Leclerc commends the progress made by his team. Despite exercising caution regarding their grid position, Leclerc acknowledges the advancements with the SF-24 as a positive step forward.
In Bahrain, the 26-year-old posted the fastest lap time in Q2, outpacing even Max Verstappen, who secured pole position in Q3. Leclerc now aims to replicate a similar feat, albeit in Q3.
Nevertheless, the path ahead won’t be without its challenges for the Ferrari driver. Given the track’s characteristics, he anticipates a fiercely contested Qualifying session.
With ample grip available on the circuit and close performances among drivers, Leclerc anticipates an intriguing battle to see who can extract the maximum potential from their car.
