Claypool’s Suspension Was Due to a Variety of Factors
Claypool had just four receptions for 51 yards and one touchdown in entire three games this season and faced questions about his performance in Week 1. Things initially improved when Claypool made a TD catch in Week 2.
But after a disappointing 0-3 start with just one catch in last week’s loss to the Chiefs, Claypool told reporters last week that he was focused on what he could control. He was asked if he thought he was in the best position to succeed. Claypool reportedly stopped for seven seconds and said, “No.”
Officials said the reason for Claypool’s suspension was due to a variety of factors, including the way players perform their daily tasks and prepare for games.
As for Bagent, he will take over the QB2 role from Nathan Peterman, who served as Fields’ backup for the first three games of the season. The former Shepherd quarterback originally signed with Chicago as an undrafted free agent for a $25,000 signing bonus.
Bagent performed well in camp, but the organization wanted to give him time to adjust due to the competitive jump from Division II to the NFL.
