Belgian outlet Voetbalkrant, as reported by Hard Tackle, has disclosed Chelsea’s interest in Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, who is also being pursued by Barcelona and Arsenal.
The 22-year-old, who joined Everton from LOSC Lille in 2022, has accumulated 60 appearances for the Toffees, contributing three goals and as many assists. Known for his defensive midfield prowess, Onana could command a price tag of up to €60 million.
At Chelsea, Onana would join a midfield roster already featuring Roméo Lavia, Moises Caicedo, Conor Gallagher, Lesley Ugochukwu, Carney Chukwuemeka, Cesare Casadei, and Enzo Fernández.
Speculation surrounds Gallagher’s future, while Casadei might be loaned out for further development. Acquiring another young midfielder aligns with Chelsea’s strategy under new co-owner Todd Boehly, aiming to bolster squad depth.
However, their extensive spending since 2022, exceeding £1 billion, could lead to sanctions, potentially impacting their pursuit of Onana, as reported by The Guardian.
