This critique irked Curtis, who defended Barriault’s resilience. Curtis criticized the former champion for his remarks, highlighting Barriault’s durability and disagreeing with Cruz’s assessment.

Speaking on The MMA Hour, Curtis expressed his frustration with the consistent criticism from Cruz and Daniel Cormier every time he fights. Despite any circumstance, Curtis claimed that Cruz, in particular, always seems critical.

He defended Barriault’s toughness, recounting instances where he landed significant blows that failed to knock his opponent down.

Curtis recounted a moment when he elbowed Barriault and was surprised by the lack of visible impact. He emphasized the misleading influence of commentary, especially Cruz’s remark characterizing the fight as a low-energy sparring match.

Curtis challenged Cruz to stand in front of him and endure similar punches to gauge the intensity.

Expressing his annoyance at Cruz’s commentary, Curtis went on to challenge Cruz directly, inviting him to experience the power of his punches firsthand. Despite the criticism, Curtis took pride in his performance, securing a split-decision victory over Barriault at UFC 297.

As of now, Dominick Cruz has not responded to Chris Curtis’ complaints, leaving uncertainty about whether he will address the issue. Despite the dissatisfaction with the commentary, Curtis managed to secure a victory in the bout.
