Football pundit Chris Sutton has playfully mocked Arsenal’s financial capabilities, dismissing the notion that they could afford to sign Kylian Mbappé, who is rumored to be leaving Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) this summer.

During the Daily Mail’s ‘It’s All Kicking Off’ podcast, Sutton expressed skepticism about Arsenal’s ability to meet the financial demands of securing Mbappe’s signature. He humorously referred to Arsenal as “little Arsenal” while questioning the feasibility of such a high-profile transfer. Sutton remarked:

“What? Little Arsenal? I’m joking a little bit about little Arsenal, but you don’t think Mbappe would be a good deal? It doesn’t matter how much he would cost. I’m not a financial expert, but how could Arsenal afford that?”

In response to inquiries about the potential signing of Mbappé, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta did not outrightly dismiss the idea earlier this month. He expressed openness to acquiring top talent, stating:

“Why not? If we want to be the best team, we are going to need the best talent and the best players, that is for sure.”

Mbappe’s departure from PSG is anticipated this summer upon the expiration of his contract. It’s been reported that he has already committed to joining Real Madrid, with the official announcement expected on July 1, according to Fabrizio Romano.

While Arsenal, Liverpool, and Manchester City were reportedly interested in Mbappe, he ultimately opted for a move to Los Blancos.
