Even though the Cincinnati Bengals have a 3-5 record, they are not giving up hope.

As the NFL trade deadline gets closer in just a few days, many rumors and updates are expected before Tuesday afternoon.

According to Dianna Russini from The Athletic, the Bengals are planning to be active at the deadline and want to strengthen their defense.

“Surprise! The team that has only acquired two players via trade in 52 years is looking to do some shopping. This isn’t the Bengals’ style, but they have strong belief in this team and intend to get back to, at least, the AFC Championship game.

Despite sitting at 3-5, Cincinnati has been poking around in search of a cornerback and a defensive lineman to get defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo some help,” Russini wrote.

It makes sense for the Bengals to want to boost their defense given the issues the unit has faced this season.

While the offense has performed well when both Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins are playing, the defense has been a significant concern.

It will be interesting to see if the Bengals make any moves at the deadline, but if they want to stay competitive in the AFC playoff race, they need to improve their defense.
