When the Bengals were 0-2, there were many chances to mention that the team often starts slowly with Joe Burrow as their quarterback but still manages to have successful seasons.

However, Monday night’s loss to the Commanders put the Bengals in a tough spot. The only team in this century to start 0-3 and make the playoffs is the 2018 Texans, and only five teams achieved that from 1980 to 1999.

These are tough odds, but Burrow doesn’t think they are impossible to overcome.

“It’s an exciting opportunity, just like every season is,” Burrow said, via the team’s website. “There are going to be some big games coming up that we need to perform well in. We haven’t faced any division rivals yet.

The Steelers are 3-0, some teams are 1-2, and we’re 0-3.

We’ll be playing all six of those games soon. We’re by no means out of it. Playoffs and winning the division are not on my mind right now. We need to improve this week.”

Burrow is right that the Bengals can still recover from their rough start, but they don’t have much room for mistakes as one of the most disappointing teams in the league so far this season.
