The Indianapolis Colts have secured Kenny Moore’s return with a lucrative three-year, $30 million deal, making him the highest-paid nickelback in NFL history, as confirmed by agents David Mulugheta and Trevon Smith of Athletes First, relayed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.
Moore showcased significant growth in 2023, demonstrating a strong adaptation to the Colts’ defensive strategy while benefiting from enhanced utilization by his coaches.
His standout moment came in a November clash against the Carolina Panthers, where he delivered the best performance of his career, snagging two interceptions and skillfully returning both for touchdowns in the 27-13 triumph. Moore registered six passes defensed, 93 tackles, and a career-high eight tackles for loss throughout the season.

Joining a cadre of players who have opted to remain with the Colts this week, Moore’s re-signing adds to a burgeoning list that includes receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (three years, $70M), linebacker Zaire Franklin (three years, $31.26M), defensive tackle Grover Stewart (three years, $39M), and defensive end Tyquan Lewis (two years).
Transitioning from an undrafted free agent in 2017 to a seven-year veteran and 2021 Pro Bowl selection, Moore has solidified his stature as one of the NFL’s premier slot defenders, now sealing his third contract.
Although he expressed dissatisfaction during the 2022 offseason regarding his contract situation, the Colts refrained from offering him a new deal due to the two seasons remaining on his existing contract.
In another move on Tuesday, the Colts inked a two-year, $14 million base value agreement with former Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Raekwon Davis, as disclosed by his agent Smith.
