Although Indianapolis Colts linebacker EJ Speed may not be a well-known name, his performance in the first six weeks of the 2024 NFL season has been impressive enough to change that. Speed is currently the league leader in solo tackles with 44.
Earlier this season, he tied an NFL record set by Zach Thomas by making at least ten tackles in eight consecutive games dating back to last year. In Week 5, he had a chance to break that record against the Jaguars but fell three tackles short in a 37-34 loss.
Unfortunately, EJ Speed appeared on the Colts’ injury report earlier this week, raising questions about whether the top tackler would be able to play in Week 7.
He seemed to be improving as the week went on. He missed practice on Wednesday, was limited on Thursday, and practiced fully on Friday.
However, on Saturday afternoon, the Indianapolis Colts announced that Speed had been moved from questionable to doubtful for their Sunday game against the Miami Dolphins.
