San Francisco Giants players celebrates after win

Michael Conforto hit a home run and a single during a six-run second inning, helping the San Francisco Giants defeat the struggling Colorado Rockies 8-6 on Wednesday night.

Both Blake Sabol and Conforto had three hits each out of San Francisco’s 13 hits. Jordan Hicks pitched effectively for five innings, and the Giants won their second consecutive game after a four-game losing streak, securing the series win against Colorado.

This victory followed a 5-0 win over the Rockies on Tuesday, marking only the third time this season that the Giants scored five or more runs in back-to-back games.

“It’s really encouraging,” remarked LaMonte Wade Jr. “We’ve been putting in the work, so it’s great to see results the past two nights. We need to keep building on this momentum and start strong again tomorrow.”

Mike Yastrzemski contributed with two hits, including a triple, while Sabol added an RBI double. Despite allowing a two-run homer by Elias Díaz in the bottom of the ninth inning, San Francisco held on for the win.

Sean Bouchard had three hits for the Rockies, who have now lost four consecutive games and nine of their last ten. They currently have the worst record in the MLB at 8-28 and are the only team without a series win or consecutive victories this season.

“We hung in there,” commented manager Bud Black. “We kept getting guys on base, but the double play tonight hurt us three different times. That’s just part of baseball.”

Charlie Blackmon contributed with two hits and two RBIs, bringing his career RBI total to 760, tying Nolan Arenado for fourth in Rockies history. Elias Díaz also had three RBIs.

Hicks (3-1) allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out five to secure the win for the Giants.
