The Amazon Prime release date for the remake of the beloved ‘Road House’ has been officially confirmed as March 21.
The upcoming film features Jake Gyllenhaal and marks the major feature film debut of Conor McGregor.
A modern reinterpretation of the 1989 Patrick Swayze action classic, the movie revolves around Gyllenhaal’s character, Elwood Dalton, a former UFC fighter who encounters challenges after taking a job at a roadhouse bar situated in the Florida Keys.
Conor McGregor takes on the role of Knox, the primary rival to Gyllenhaal’s Dalton, in this Doug Liman-directed film. Liman, known for directing ‘The Bourne Identity,’ helms this reinterpretation.
Gyllenhaal’s involvement in the film included filming sequences during last year’s UFC 285 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
There, he actively participated in a weigh-in, ensuring his authentic inclusion in the film. Additionally, he engaged in a staged ‘fight’ with UFC and Strikeforce veteran Jay Hieron inside the cage between official bouts on the card.
Speaking about the filming process, Jay Hieron shared insights, stating, “We had one take. Six minutes, and you’re out. You either get it, or you don’t. So that process was great, too.
Everybody was dialed in, from the wardrobe to every piece of the production. Shout out to the whole team that had the ball rolling. It was just incredible to be a part of.”
