The Dallas Cowboys announced on Saturday that right guard Zack Martin and cornerback Trevon Diggs will not play in Sunday’s game against the Washington Commanders due to injuries.
Martin has been dealing with ankle and shoulder issues. He didn’t practice at all this week and was initially listed as doubtful on Friday. He also had difficulty during the Cowboys’ loss to the Houston Texans on Monday night.
The 34-year-old Martin has played all 162 games in his 11 seasons with the Cowboys. He’s a nine-time Pro Bowl selection and a seven-time first-team All-Pro.
Diggs, who has been battling groin and knee injuries, was listed as questionable on Friday but was downgraded to out on Saturday. The 26-year-old has 37 tackles and two interceptions in 10 games this season. Diggs, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, led the NFL in 2021 with 11 interceptions and has a total of 20 picks in 57 career games.
The Cowboys decided not to activate wide receiver Brandin Cooks, who has been dealing with a knee issue. Cooks returned to practice earlier this week and was listed as questionable on Friday.
Dallas made several other roster moves on Saturday, including activating offensive tackle Chuma Edoga (toe) and defensive end Marshawn Kneeland (knee) from injured reserve. Safety Markquese Bell (shoulder) was placed on IR, and defensive end KJ Henry was released.
Tight end Jake Ferguson, who is recovering from a concussion, was already ruled out for the game. Tight end Princeton Fant was promoted from the practice squad to replace Ferguson. Cornerback Kemon Hall was also elevated from the practice squad.
