UFC CEO Dana White has publicly declared his unwavering support for former U.S. president Donald Trump ahead of the 2024 presidential election. White, a long-time friend of Trump, spoke at the Republican National Convention, marking the third time he has done so in support of Trump’s candidacy.
This time, White had the honor of being the final speaker before Trump took the stage to accept the Republican presidential nomination.
In his speech, White emphasized the strong and loyal friendship he shares with Trump, recounting a personal story to highlight Trump’s considerate nature. He mentioned a text message from Trump expressing concern about White interrupting his family trip to attend the convention.
White used this anecdote to counter the mainstream media’s portrayal of Trump as self-centered, insisting that his 25-year friendship with Trump has shown him a man who genuinely cares about people.
White’s motivation to support Trump intensified following a recent failed assassination attempt on Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump, who was struck in the right ear, has been wearing a bandage over the injury at the RNC.
White praised Trump’s resilience and toughness, qualities he believes make Trump the right choice for president. He drew parallels between the toughness required in the fight business and the resilience Trump has demonstrated throughout his political career.
During his speech, White referenced former president Ronald Reagan, touching on political issues such as government overreach, economic struggles, and public safety. He argued that Trump is fighting to preserve the American dream and that his leadership is necessary to protect the country’s future.
White used Reagan’s words to underscore his belief that government should protect its citizens without overstepping its bounds, allowing individuals to thrive independently.
White concluded his speech by reiterating his belief in Trump’s leadership qualities, stating that the country was in a better place during Trump’s previous term. He encouraged voters to choose strength, security, opportunity, and real American leadership, which he associates with Trump.
While making his case for Trump, White clarified that he was not attempting to dictate voters’ choices but rather sharing his personal reasons for supporting his friend and candidate.
