In early March, Giants tight end Darren Waller mentioned that he would soon decide on whether to continue playing football or retire. However, a month later, he still hasn’t made up his mind.
“I haven’t made a decision yet,” Waller told Forbes.com. “It’s about respecting the process. There’s a lot involved in the journey from April to February in an NFL season. It demands a lot of commitment. I’m someone who’s evolving, learning, and has experienced a lot in football.”
Waller explained that the final decision will depend on whether he feels fully committed to another season.
“At this point, I’m questioning how much I’m willing to invest in the process,” Waller said. “If it’s not 100%, it wouldn’t be fair to my teammates and the organization. It’s challenging to make a decision based on emotions.”
Despite being set to earn a significant salary this season, Waller is considering walking away from football, feeling he may have achieved all he wants in the NFL.
