Davante Adams, a star wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, has expressed interest in being traded, with the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints at the top of his wish list. According to league sources, Adams is drawn to these teams due to his familiarity with their quarterbacks: Aaron Rodgers of the Jets, his former teammate from the Green Bay Packers, and Derek Carr of the Saints, his former college teammate at Fresno State and NFL teammate with the Raiders.
The Raiders have informed other teams that they are open to trading Adams for a package including a second-round draft pick and additional compensation. However, the Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly not a potential destination.
Adams was initially acquired by the Raiders in 2022 after a trade with the Packers, primarily to reunite with Carr, but only played one season with him before Carr’s release. Adams spent eight seasons with Rodgers in Green Bay, earning five Pro Bowl selections and two first-team All-Pro honors.
He also excelled in his one season with Carr, again earning All-Pro and Pro Bowl accolades. Rodgers has frequently praised Adams since being traded to the Jets in 2023 and expressed excitement about potentially reuniting with him. While Rodgers has compared current Jets receiver Garrett Wilson to Adams, their chemistry has not fully developed yet this season.
The Jets currently have wide receivers Allen Lazard and Mike Williams, both of whom are earning $10 million this season. Lazard, a former teammate of Adams in Green Bay, spoke highly of his experience playing with Adams, while Jets head coach Robert Saleh has not ruled out upgrading the roster, though he expressed satisfaction with the current receivers.
Additionally, the Jets have the draft capital to facilitate trade and could potentially include pass rusher Haason Reddick, who has requested a trade, though the Jets have so far resisted moving him.
In an interview on the “Up & Adams Show,” Davante Adams was asked about rumors suggesting he may have played his last game with the Raiders. These rumors were fueled by Raiders coach Antonio Pierce’s social media activity, but Adams declined to speculate, focusing instead on controlling his immediate future.
When asked about the situation with the Raiders, Adams maintained that all he could do was focus on his next steps, while Pierce deflected questions from reporters about the Instagram incident.
A trade involving Adams would be complicated by his salary. He is earning $17.5 million this season, with $13.5 million still owed, and his contract for 2025 and 2026 includes a substantial salary increase to $36.25 million per year.
Any trade partner would likely need to negotiate a restructured contract with Adams. Currently, the Jets have more salary cap space ($15.35 million) than the Saints ($3.27 million), potentially making them a more viable option. Adams is also currently sidelined with a hamstring injury, missing his first game since 2021, though he is expected to recover on a week-to-week basis.
