Davante Adams is still with the Las Vegas Raiders, but that might change soon as several teams are looking to trade for the star wide receiver.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Pittsburgh Steelers are showing “strong interest” in Adams, while the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets have already talked with the Raiders about a possible trade.

Fowler mentioned that Adams probably won’t be traded until next week at the earliest. He will miss his third straight game because of a hamstring injury. The Raiders and Steelers are set to play against each other on Sunday at Allegiant Stadium.

The Jets and Saints are the main focus of trade talks about Adams since he would prefer to join one of those teams due to his connections with Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers.

Fowler also reported on Wednesday that the Saints are leading the charge to trade for Adams because they are “willing to be aggressive.”

It’s uncertain how aggressive the Steelers will be in trying to get Adams, especially if there is competition from other teams.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Raiders have informed interested teams that they won’t take anything less than a second-round draft pick along with extra compensation, either in the form of additional picks or a player, for Adams.

Historically, the Steelers have not been very aggressive in making trades during the season, but they made a successful move in September 2019 when they traded for Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Miami Dolphins.

The Steelers are in urgent need of an offensive boost. They have scored more than 20 points only once in their first five games and currently rank 26th in points scored per game.

Justin Fields is tied for the NFL lead with five fumbles, but only one has been recovered by the other team. Russell Wilson is expected to play this Sunday for the first time this season, but head coach Mike Tomlin said he will “probably” be the backup to Fields.

No matter who is playing quarterback in Pittsburgh, the team needs another playmaker on the outside alongside George Pickens. He is the only receiver on the roster with over 140 yards this season, having 310 yards. Tight end Pat Freiermuth is second on the team with 178 receiving yards.

Adams has 18 catches for 209 yards and one touchdown in three games this season.
