A remarkable goal by Kevin De Bruyne brought joy from Pep Guardiola on the sidelines and kickstarted Manchester City’s turnaround in a 4-2 victory against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday.
Despite a shaky start with Crystal Palace taking an early lead, City managed to bounce back.
De Bruyne leveled the score just 10 minutes later with an impressive strike, cutting inside from the left and curling a right-footed shot into the top corner of the net.
Guardiola showed his excitement by blowing kisses to De Bruyne, and City took the lead early in the second half with a goal from Rico Lewis.
Erling Haaland added another goal in the 66th minute, tapping in De Bruyne’s cross for his 19th goal of the season.
De Bruyne secured City’s victory with his second goal of the game in the 70th minute, reaching a milestone of 100 goals for the club since joining in 2015.
Despite a late consolation goal from Palace’s substitute Odsonne Edouard, City’s comeback was enough to secure the win.
With this victory, City joined Liverpool at the top of the table with 70 points, ahead of Liverpool’s match against Manchester United on Sunday. Arsenal, in third place, is trailing by two points.
Looking ahead, City faces Real Madrid on Tuesday in the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.
