DeAndre Hopkins has been mentioned in trade rumors lately, but the star wide receiver is happy with the Tennessee Titans.
According to Jim Wyatt from the team’s website, when Hopkins was asked about the possibility of a trade, he expressed his satisfaction with his current situation.
“I love my life. I love where I am,” Hopkins said. “God put me where I need to be, and He always will. I play football.”
Several teams have shown interest in Hopkins since the season began, including the injury-plagued Kansas City Chiefs, who reportedly wanted him “badly” during free agency, as mentioned by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are also said to be interested in Hopkins if he becomes available for a trade, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano.
The veteran receiver hasn’t started the season strongly, with only 14 receptions for 175 yards in five games, but his struggles aren’t entirely his fault.
His quarterback situation isn’t great, as Will Levis has only 699 passing yards, ranking 30th in the NFL, and has thrown more interceptions (7) than touchdowns (5). Hopkins leads the Titans in receiving yards but would likely have more if he were in a better offensive situation.
Additionally, Hopkins is playing through an injury; he revealed in September that he has a torn MCL.
As a five-time Pro Bowler with seven seasons of over 1,000 receiving yards, it might be easier for him to request a trade and join a team with a stronger quarterback. However, he is content where he is right now and seems uninterested in playing elsewhere.
If he decides to change his mind after this season, he will become a free agent in March.
