Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes have switched conferences, coordinators, and their offensive line (again). They’ve also updated their uniforms.

What hasn’t changed is the excitement around the team. Regardless of their record, the Buffaloes are always in the spotlight as they return to the Big 12 this season.

Sanders begins his second year next Thursday when the Buffaloes play against FCS powerhouse North Dakota State. This season is expected to be as thrilling as ever for Sanders and his team, with many celebrities and professional scouts expected at Folsom Field.

Quarterback Shedeur Sanders and versatile star Travis Hunter are not only hoping for the Heisman Trophy but are also potential top NFL draft picks.

They are ignoring the negative comments from critics.

“I’m ready to go out there and show everybody what’s up,” said safety Shilo Sanders, whose team started 3-0 last season but ended with a 4-8 record. “Going through criticism, that’s going to happen the more you level up. … Keep working and show what you can do on the field, that’s what really matters.”

Deion Sanders recently avoided the media due to what he saw as negative coverage and the repeated use of the term “chemistry.”

“You guys use it all the time — what is it?” Sanders asked about chemistry. “Everybody keeps throwing that word out.”

Sanders claimed that everything in Boulder is still going as planned. In fact, he said, “everything is right on schedule.”

Last year, the team was predicted to win 3 1/2 games. This season, the expected win total has increased to 5 1/2, which is close to bowl game eligibility, according to BetMGM College Football Odds.

The Buffaloes were chosen to finish 11th in the Big 12 media poll as they return to a conference they were part of until 2011, when they moved to the Pac-12.
