The current state of Warhammer 40k’s meta appears favorable, with the recent Las Vegas Open showcasing diverse factions in the top 10, and Necrons emerging as the event’s victors. Despite this, the absence of a new Balance Dataslate since September has left players desiring change, particularly those engaged with lower-tier armies.
In the latest Metawatch video and Balance Dataslate article, Games Workshop disclosed plans for adjustments scheduled for January 2024. Contrary to previous changes in Autumn 2023, this update was supposed to involve deliberate alterations to points and datasheets. However, this did not materialize as expected.
Anticipation was high for the release of the Warhammer 40k Balance Dataslate 2024 following the Las Vegas Open. Traditionally, such updates are released on Thursdays, prompting the community to wait eagerly for the changes. Disappointingly, after a day of anticipation, there were no updates on the Warhammer Community site.
Games Workshop, instead, released a roadmap for the Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game, updates on Warhammer The Horus Heresy, and an Age of Sigmar Metawatch article with LVO results. At the conclusion of the latter, it was revealed that the 40k Metawatch and corresponding dataslate were postponed to the next week.
Amid initial confusion, the community turned to Games Workshop’s social media platforms, seeking information about the missing dataslate. Initially tight-lipped, social media employees eventually disclosed that the Warhammer 40k Dataslate is set to be released the following week. However, the exact day within that week remained undisclosed.
Games Workshop had initially indicated that the significant update for the 10th Edition was slated for January 2024, leaving room until the next Wednesday.
Speculation emerged, suggesting the delay might be due to translation issues or the need to refine details gathered from LVO. Although Tuesday was rumored as a potential release date to adhere to the promised January slate, Thursday, February 1st, seemed equally likely.
Despite the uproar caused by the delay, the community remains hopeful, recognizing that a one-week delay is not catastrophic, especially if it results in an improved balance dataslate.
Enthusiasm is high, and the hope is that the release will occur on Tuesday. While the current meta is satisfactory, certain factions like Imperial Knights and Drukhari desperately require assistance, while adjustments to Chaos Space Marines and Aeldari are also anticipated.
