Denis Bouanga found the net in the last moments of extra time, while Timothy Tillman also contributed a goal as Los Angeles FC secured a 3-2 victory against the Portland Timbers on Saturday night.

The winning goal came when Kei Kamara’s header was blocked by goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau, but Bouanga swiftly capitalized on the rebound, striking the ball into the net off the back post.

Diego Chara marked his 377th regular season appearance for the Timbers, setting an MLS record for the most appearances with a single club. However, he received yellow cards in the 72nd and 76th minutes, leaving Portland with one player less after the second card.

This surpassed Chris Wondolowski’s record of 376 regular-season matches for the San Jose Earthquakes.

Previously, the teams drew 2-2 in Portland on April 13, with the Timbers playing with one player less after Crépeau received a red card in the 48th minute.

LAFC took a 1-0 lead when a cross by Bouanga intended for Cristian Olivera was deflected into the net by Portland defender Kamal Miller.

Tillman extended LAFC’s lead just before halftime with a powerful shot that struck the back post before finding the net, bringing the halftime score to 2-0.

Tillman, 25, has now scored four goals this season, matching his total from his rookie season in 2023.
