According to CBS Sports’ Josina Anderson, the Baltimore Ravens and former Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry share a keen interest in potentially striking a deal during free agency.
Henry, who has spent the first eight years of his illustrious career with the Titans, is, as per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, “unlikely to return” to Tennessee, though “the door is not completely closed.” However, if the Ravens present an enticing offer, it could sway Henry away from a return to Tennessee.
In the 2023 season, Henry showcased his prowess by amassing 1,167 rushing yards and scoring 12 touchdowns—marking his sixth consecutive season with double-digit touchdowns. A move to the Ravens could potentially pave the way for a significant second chapter in Henry’s already remarkable career.
Recent moves made by both the Titans and the Ravens on Monday hint towards a potential future for Henry in Baltimore.
Tennessee secured former Dallas Cowboys running back Tony Pollard with a lucrative three-year, $24 million deal, suggesting that the Titans are preparing for a future sans Henry.
Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Chargers inked a two-year contract with former Ravens running back Gus Edwards. Edwards, who served as Baltimore’s primary rusher alongside Lamar Jackson last season, could create an opening for Henry to step in and make an impact.
Although Henry, at 30 years old, is approaching an age where offering a substantial contract might pose a risk, the former All-Pro running back showcased his enduring talent last season. The Ravens, who fell just short of reaching the Super Bowl in 2023, could potentially benefit from adding a formidable talent like Henry to bolster their offense and propel them to greater success this year.
