Cecilie Bolander, a 27-year-old mixed martial artist from Norway, has recently garnered attention for her striking similarities to Ronda Rousey, the former UFC sensation.
With a solid background in Judo, Bolander has followed a trajectory akin to Rousey’s, seamlessly transitioning into the world of mixed martial arts. Her journey into MMA began just before the pandemic hit, where she faced the choice between pursuing Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) or MMA. Opting for the latter, Bolander embarked on her quest to carve her own path in the sport.
Embracing the comparisons to Ronda Rousey, Bolander views them as a source of inspiration rather than pressure. In an interview with The AllStar, she expressed her perspective:
“In my first amateur fight, we made quite the splash in the press. My manager and I wanted to make a bold statement. It was fun, and in Norway, we portrayed it as if I were poised to be the next Ronda Rousey.
Stepping into the MMA cage for the first time was exhilarating, with a lot of excitement surrounding it. When I turned pro, it felt like a milestone—finally, we’re here, the first fight is behind us, and now the real fun begins.”
