Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s performance following Thursday night’s 113-110 defeat against a depleted Memphis Grizzlies squad.
“We had some guys here, some guys in Cabo,” Rivers remarked to reporters post-game, as reported by Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated.
Despite a late surge led by Giannis Antetokounmpo, who tallied 35 points and 12 assists, the Bucks couldn’t overcome a Grizzlies team missing key players such as Jaren Jackson Jr., Marcus Smart, Ja Morant, and Desmond Bane.
Brook Lopez contributed a double-double with 14 points and 11 assists, while Damian Lillard chipped in 24 points despite a 7-of-21 shooting performance.
Starters Jae Crowder and Malik Beasley struggled to reach double-digit points in the loss. Patrick Beverley, coming off the bench, managed just one point and four rebounds in 14 minutes of play.
This defeat marked the Bucks’ second consecutive heavy loss, following a 123-97 defeat against the Miami Heat on Wednesday. Since Doc Rivers took over as head coach on January 26th, Milwaukee has posted a 3-7 record.
