The Dolphins have increased their cap space with a strategic financial maneuver. According to Field Yates of ESPN, the team has restructured the contract of edge rusher Bradley Chubb. By converting $13.75 million of Chubb’s base salary into a signing bonus, they can distribute the cap hit over multiple years.
As a result of this adjustment, the Dolphins now have an additional $11 million in cap space at their disposal.
Chubb demonstrated his value on the field with 11 sacks and six forced fumbles in 16 games for the Dolphins during the 2023 season. However, his campaign was cut short when he tore his ACL in Week 17. Currently, he is undergoing rehabilitation in hopes of returning to action for Miami as early in the upcoming season as possible.
