PSG sensation Kylian Mbappe once operated under a different name during his early days at Monaco before transitioning to his renowned moniker.
The French prodigy emerged from Monaco’s youth ranks and made his breakthrough into the senior squad in 2015. By the 2016/17 season, Mbappe had established a lethal partnership with Radamel Falcao in a formidable team that boasted talents like Bernardo Silva, Fabinho, and Thomas Lemar.
Monaco’s remarkable season saw them disrupt PSG’s dominance in Ligue 1, clinching the title while also advancing to the Champions League semi-finals. Despite not being a consistent starter initially under manager Leonardo Jardim, Mbappe’s impact grew significantly as the campaign unfolded, netting 15 goals.
Upon his high-profile transfer to PSG at the start of the subsequent season, Mbappe adopted his full name, Kylian Mbappe Lottin, although, during his tenure at Monaco, he was commonly known as ‘Mbappe,’ as reflected on his jersey.
While the rationale behind the change remains undisclosed, fans of the FIFA video game series may recall his in-form cards in FIFA 17, where he was credited as Mbappe Lottin. Despite starting with a modest rating of 71, Mbappe has since evolved into one of the game’s most highly-rated players, currently boasting a stellar 91 overall rating.
As speculation swirls around his future, with reports suggesting an imminent move to Real Madrid upon the expiration of his PSG contract, several top clubs including Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal are reportedly vying for his signature.
