Dusty May is making a move to Michigan, going back to his roots in the Big Ten after coaching at Florida Atlantic for six seasons, including a memorable Final Four run last year.
Michigan’s President Santa Ono announced the hiring on social media, although the terms of the contract have not yet been officially disclosed. May will be taking over from Juwan Howard, who was let go after five seasons with the Wolverines.
May’s potential departure from Florida Atlantic has been a topic of discussion for over a year now, especially after their impressive run last season. Despite FAU’s efforts to keep him with a contract extension, May decided to move on.
May’s tenure at Florida Atlantic saw significant success, including a Final Four appearance and multiple winning seasons. He leaves behind a legacy of achievements, transforming FAU’s basketball program with numerous firsts in its history.
With Michigan offering him a new opportunity, May is ready to take on the challenge in maize and blue, returning to the Big Ten conference where he has roots.
