Nebraska football has secured offensive tackle Elijah Pritchett from Alabama. The 6-foot-6, 327-pound former 5-star recruit provides much-needed depth for the Huskers’ offensive line in 2025. Pritchett’s commitment comes as Nebraska sought to improve their tackle positions after the loss of key players.
In the 2024 season, Pritchett started 12 of 13 games for Alabama, showcasing versatility at both left and right tackle. He played 619 offensive snaps, with 64 at left tackle and 555 at right tackle. His experience as a starter in the SEC makes him a valuable addition to Nebraska’s roster.
After entering the transfer portal on January 4, Pritchett quickly visited Nebraska and committed to the program by the following Tuesday. His swift decision reflects his confidence in Nebraska’s coaching staff and the opportunity to contribute immediately to the team’s offensive line needs.
Challenges Faced by Pritchett in 2024, Including Legal Issues
Despite his talent, Pritchett struggled with some aspects of his game in 2024, allowing 31 pressures and six sacks. Off-the-field legal issues also affected his performance. However, Nebraska is optimistic that the change in scenery will allow Pritchett to reach his full potential and improve under new coaching.
With the departure of long-time starter Bryce Benhart and injuries to key players, Nebraska needed to strengthen its offensive line. Players like Gunnar Gottula showed promise in 2024, but Pritchett’s experience adds crucial depth and provides an immediate boost to the Huskers’ tackle positions for 2025.
Originally from Columbus, Georgia, Pritchett was ranked as the No. 31 overall recruit in the 2022 class and the No. 5 offensive tackle. He redshirted in 2022, played special teams in 2023, and emerged as a starting tackle in 2024. His high pedigree and experience give Nebraska high hopes for his future impact.
