Veteran England fast bowler James Anderson reflects on the absence of star Indian batsman Virat Kohli during England’s Test series in January.
While acknowledging the quality Kohli brings to the game, Anderson cheekily suggests that English fans might be relieved not to face him, although he enjoys the challenge of bowling to Kohli. Anderson shared his thoughts on Kohli’s absence during an interview with Jio Cinema:
“I guess English fans will be thankful he’s not playing because he’s such a quality player. But from our point of view, you want to test yourself, you want to come up against the best, and he’s been someone who I’ve found challenging to bowl at over the years, and it’s a shame he’s not been playing.”
Despite Kohli’s absence, Anderson reminisces on the competition he’s had with Kohli over the years, noting that while Kohli has scored runs against him, he has also managed to dismiss the former Indian captain seven times in Tests.
